you gotta know what a crumpet is before you can understand cricket

so we had a lecture today about the history of Oxford University by this guy who was 89 years old. Holy crap that was cool I mean, the lecture itself was okay. It has been pretty damn hot here recently (about 30C--that's about 85F) and being cramped up together was not so fun. but whatever. Any hoo.... I took a walk today thru this park sorta thing and saw a real live organized cricket match going on. I watched for a couple minutes, but of course didn't really know what was going on. Still, it was amusing. I especially like the suits that these guys put on before playing. and the huge bats. The pic isn't that great, but I was scared to get too close. I mean, its a lot like playing baseball with an oar as a bad and a bocce ball as the ball.... getting closer than absolutly necessary sounds like a bad idea to me... hrmmm.... any hoo, I think I'm going to walk around the city some... perhaps I'll return with more pictures.
